WHAT'S IN A BULLFROG?

Jan 28, 2010alt

It has been said the bullfrog will prey on any animal it can overpower and stuff down its throat. I’m sure The Bullfrog Trail got its name because of this fact. Rodents, turtles, snakes, frogs and birds have been found in their stomachs. As disturbing as it is, it sound’s more like the finger foods served by Seth or Rhett at a barbeque. This is five star eating in Arkansas. I can’t say that these menu items appeal to me but the Bullfrog trail does. Don’t get me wrong this trail can swallow you and up and spit you out. This is how people react to Seth’s barbeque but in contrast this trail is a treat.

We had a great time off roading this last weekend, so here are my bullet points. We had 14 rigs, great weather and who knows how many people. We had two Travis’s, their funny but not near as funny as the two Rhett’s. Saturday nights run included a little flash back to the Wild Spirit days. This can be funny. Jorge decided to pull a Rhett and took out the sidewall of his tire. At least he didn’t start the day with a long drawn out story about how great his tires were. Luckily there weren’t any really big hills for Kevin to launch a spare off of because he has been trying to get a better score on the Kevin scale. Ron was apparently on his best behavior, if he picked a really bad line or had one in his head he kept it to himself. For once Mike wasn’t the high score for crapping himself, high score now goes to black Jeep Joe. You would have thought we threw Seth’s sampler platter at him. Ken Steel’s throttle problem is still a problem but he shouldn’t have installed a Toyota throttle body on his Jeep. Joe Urbon is still number one when it comes to rigs, can you say bumper mounted frappuccino machine, this is way better than Kevin’s bumper mounted Hookah, it just isn’t as cool. Thank God there wasn’t a lot of bitching going on around the campfire this was because Seth decided to camp somewhere else. It must have been Ron’s turrets that scared him off. Ryan threw in his two cents, a few rocks and a spring with some long spans of silence, we wouldn’t want it any other way. April would have enjoyed it and I’m pretty sure if we didn’t scare off Travis Schellpeper this time we probably never will.

alt The Bullfrog may be a tenacious eater but the trail can only be described as fun. The trail was unable to overpower the 4X4 CORPS but did offer a challenge. The friends, antics and trail were awesome and shouldn’t be missed but if you’re not a bullfrog you should miss out on Seth’s barbeque.

Great write up Jeff. Thanks for putting this run together and I would like to say thanks to everyone who made it out there. I had a blast and can't wait to go back and hit it again before the scorching summer is upon us. Jeff, you missed one thing in your summary though. I didn't see the part about your flat tire.

Michael Wright on Feb 5, 2010 1:46pm

Jeff Forrest on Feb 5, 2010 2:07pm

Paul Newell on Feb 5, 2010 4:06pm

Rhett Carter on Feb 7, 2010 1:33pm

AND YET ONCE AGAIN THE 4X4 CORPS DIDN'T LET THE WILD SPIRIT DIE. Jeff as good as that BB-Que sounds we also have raccoon, possum, and left on road "what ever is killed by an object going at lest 85mph" at my BB-Que. I would appreciate if you wouldn't insult me with them hillbilly comments.

Ken Steele on Feb 8, 2010 4:12pm

That's funny Rhett because we've had some hillbillies call in complaining about being associated with you and Seth.

Rhett Carter on Feb 9, 2010 3:22am

Not saying seth is bad guy now. He can be a cool guy when he not bitchen. I think we all know how that is. By the way ken there is a few rednecks down here that I showed the web page to, and they all want a Ken Steele thottle control 101 t shirt. I mean you can make something of this when you get out of the corps.

Ken Steele on Feb 9, 2010 8:46am

lol! Get their names and numbers for me Rhett. They can be my first students. No T-shirts until they finish the class though. Hey did you say you're coming back out this way later in the year?

Rhett Carter on Feb 9, 2010 8:03pm

yea man me the wife and lil remington should be making a trip out there in mid august

Joe Urbon on Feb 10, 2010 10:05am

I am in the middle of upgrading my amenities in my 4 door to keep the tradition in check. I am now installing a kegger in the back with a tap that will be mounted to the front and rear bumpers accordingly. I may have a lite and a dark beer option but I am having difficulty with finding the proper switch that will allow me to run only one line. Maybe I go lite to the front and dark in the rear - fitting don't ya think.

The night run was classic and was the best of the trip. Ron, you would have loved it. Amazing what a few well equipped jeeps, some experienced drivers / spotters, some luck and lots of beer can do when you mix them just right.

Michael Wright on Feb 11, 2010 7:48pm

have to agree with everyone, the night run was the best part of the trip and i wasnt even drivin..."the trails this way, the trails this way...oh wait, this isnt even a trail" good navigating Ken!!! we made it out though, and the trail only took 2 tires from us.

Ken Steele on Feb 11, 2010 8:05pm

Ron Baker on Feb 11, 2010 10:40pm

Ken Steele on Feb 12, 2010 7:14am

Do you mind laying down so I can run over you next time. I've always wanted to see what the bottom of my Jeep looked like while moving.

Joe Urbon on Feb 12, 2010 11:03am

Great video Ron and all this time I though April was the Master of the "V".

Travis Armenta on Feb 12, 2010 10:03pm

April Baker on Feb 17, 2010 7:45pm
