CONNECTING WITH NEW MEMBERS!
Building a club such as the 4x4 Corps can sometimes be a lot of work but the rewards can be well worth it. One of the great things about belonging to a club is meeting new members. You never know when people will get the nerve to show up but they eventually do. Let's face it, this is how most of our members became members. I'll be the first to admit we have some pretty scary characters in the club but most of them don't bite and the ones that do barely leave a mark. All the crazy members in this club just showed up on some event. Now April and Violy are the exceptions to this rule, they came fighting and screaming but they finally broke down. This works for me.

My attitude has always been that if I were running trails things couldn't be bad and if I were running those trails with good people life couldn't be better. Well this was the case in Corral Canyon this last weekend. Ken, Travis and I decided the Saturday was too nice of a day to sit at home so we went to challenge the Connector. Ken wanted to make his trip as challenging as possible so he brought along the wife and kids. I think they had fun but I don't think they enjoyed the opening act. I'm betting they thought we had just tired them out for the next episode of survivor on the island where they filmed "Lord Of The Flies." They survived. We also had some new members along. If you've been around the club then you know Ryan, well we have another one. It was one thing having two Rhetts but three Ryans. Anyway, Ryan brought along his friend Jesus, yes Jesus. Rhett would have been happy until he found out it was a different Jesus. Yeah, he's heard all the jokes. Ryan has a 4 Runner as capable as any I've seen and it made easy work of the Connector, which meant less work for Ken and Travis.
The weather was great the people were awesome and the wheelin was fun. What more
could you ask for. We thought we had a full day running the Connector and Bronco Peak until we came across some other guys that had gotten stuck at the end of Sidewinder. We thought we would take a look and see if we could help. Well these guys put on a show that Rhett would have been proud of and it made my day! Hey Jesus, send Rhett a message for me, " how bout them wildspirits...they live on." There is just something damn funny about rednecks and girls who are afraid of bugs! It brought back fond memories of the bee incident with the original Ryan at the Hammers.
